Final

Erich Mendelsohn: Personal philosophy of Dynamism
Neri Oxman: Nature doesn't offer forms, but processes

Electroliquid Aggregation: Constant change (dynamism) is reflected through the processes that nature offers

The three texture images (light to dark) in the animated texture that represents “constant change” (dynamism). The looping of the textures reflect the constant processes that occur in nature. The rectangular prism also forms a “loop”, showing an infinite process/cycle.

The two meeting points are on two levels of the monument, each with a different experience of the surrounding environment and own unique way of arriving there. The flooring texture also represents a “cycle”, how nature builds from the basics.

I chose a winter environment because the seasonal transition that happens from the middle of winter to spring is a significant process that nature performs. The form of the animated texture shows nature as a dynamic force that is unpredictable.

Textures used for the animated texture: (light, medium, dark)
Texture used for the floor of the balconies/meeting places:

Week 3: 36 Custom Textures

Week 2: Electroliquid Aggregation

Erich Mendelsohn: Personal philosophy of Dynamism
Neri Oxman: Nature doesn't offer forms, but processes

Electroliquid Aggregation: Constant change (dynamism) is reflected through the processes that nature offers

Week 2: Axonometrics

Erich Mendelsohn: Used no historical precedents in formulating designs, instead from expressionistic sketches and romantic symbolism.
Neri Oxman: Nature designs for the multifunctional
Erich Mendelsohn: Personal Philosophy of dynamism
Neri Oxman: Nature doesn't offer forms, but processes

Erich Mendelsohn: Expressionism - to present the world solely from a subjective perspective, distorting it radically for emotional effect in order to evoke moods or ideas
Neri Oxman: 1. Materialecology - computational design strategies for form finding and 3d printing technology to create almost living structures.

Week 1: Concepts

Erich Mendelsohn Concepts:

1. Personal Philosophy of dynamism
2. Expressionism - to present the world solely from a subjective perspective, distorting it radically for emotional effect in order to evoke moods or ideas
3. Visionary drawings, not intellectual
4. Expressionist sketches and romantic symbolism (Used no historical precedents in formulating designs, instead from expressionistic sketches and romantic symbolism)
5. Non-conformer - refused to conform to trends of the time

Neri Oxman Concepts:

1. Materialecology - computational design strategies for form finding and 3d printing technology to create almost living structures.
2. Nature doesn't offer forms, but processes
3. Nature designs for the multifunctional
4. Designer becomes an editor of constraints
5. Nature 2.0 "What does it take to beat nature? What does it mean to design in a natural way?"
